The Alchemy of Green

Green is New Life

This is perfect timing for this fourth color on our journey through the visible, spectral rainbow. GREEN is new life, the awakening of Spring! It is a time of inner growth and renewal, the hope of something new. Green is the middle of the rainbow, blending yellow and blue, the connector between heaven and earth.

As with all the colors, Green has important messages and wisdom. This color is fresh and alive, the spirit of hope and evolution. Green is the primary color in nature. It opens our hearts and our minds!

Green is a master healer for renewal and rejuvenation. It invites us back to the kingdom of nature, opening our connection to the perpetual wonder of the natural world. Light feeds life into the plant creating the Green color known as chlorophyll. Then chlorophyll feeds us through food. Green is the color of research and science where the unknown can become known.

As a color therapist, I always use Green to soothe, balance, calm and promote feelings of self-love. Green is the perfect color to help create health, peace, space and harmony.

Green and the Chakras

Green is associated with the fourth or Heart chakra, Anahata. Anahata means “sound made without two striking things”, describing the co-existence of body and spirit. The Heart is associated with the air element and Venus, the planet of love. Through this chakra, we gain the ability to enjoy love as a state of being. We learn compassion and unconditional love for oneself and our fellow human beings.

The Heart is about developing and forming loving relationships with others. Emotional issues related to the heart include fears regarding loneliness, commitment and/or betrayal. Physical issues, related to the Heart, include all heart disease.

The Heart Chakra is the passage from the lower earthly, physical concerns to the realms of Spirit. This is where we have the opportunity to learn to love ourselves,  so that our love for another is genuine.

The Healing Power of Green

Green is cooling, soothing and calming both physically and mentally. It acts on the sympathetic nervous system relieving tension in the blood and lowering blood pressure. As Green acts upon the nervous system, it is a sedative helpful for sleep, exhaustion and irritability.

Green is the color of nitrogen, the largest component of the atmosphere, building muscles, bones and other tissue. The consciousness of Green is a channel of love for all living things!

Green in Nature

As with most of the colors, we receive Green through sunlight, through the colors of nature and through food. Nature provides Green throughout a forest, in the color of grass and the leaves and stalks of most plants. Green is seen in succulents. Frogs, birds, lizards, crocodiles (find another source of green), and the green beetle, carry the vibration of Green in their coats. Food provides Green through limes, cucumber, leafy greens, asparagus, broccoli, cilantro and green peppers. It’s everywhere, my friend!

These are just a few of the ways that nature provides Green. Take notice and observe where nature is giving you Green! Go into the forest and allow the Green energy to nurture you!

Stay tuned for Turquoise, the transformation of Consciousness!
